W.A.R

I was just wondering; why people prefer war when they can finish issues with man to man talk. It is really sad that people kill others to gain something which is of no use. War is just beginning of new chapter, war doesn’t solve issues, war creates problem. World would have been in peace if there was no border. War happens for political issues, they don’t fight for a good cause.

All the arms we need are for hugging. Not for fighting

My thought process today

Man should live for the moment. Living in the moment is all about living like there's no tomorrow. It takes practice but in the end, you'll lead a fuller life (enlightenment). To do this you must realize beauty in every moment, and in everyday activities.

“Mind is consciousness which has put on limitations. You are originally unlimited and perfect. Later you take on limitations and become the mind.” – ramana maharishi

Ever since man first saw a bird fly, man has wanted to fly. He found plane

Man is least himself when he talks in his own person.

He never wants to be himself.

Something influences him every day.

I was just asking myself today

Are you doing your work without dreaming?

Are you eating your food without worry?

Are you getting good sleep?

Do you live for the present?

Are you true to your heart?

Are you true to the faith?

I couldn’t answer to any of these questions

Then I realized what am doing is wrong

Am not true to my religion

Am not true to mankind

Am not true to myself

iyengars chidambaram experience ;)

It was a weekend; I wanted to take a break, so my office gave me one
they told me to go on an office trip.
My boss gave me a tough task, the "break" happened to be at Chidambaram, one of the hottest places to be at in summer, and the best part was, we were to document a 100 year old building, so I was pretty intrigued.
My journey started from my home at saligramam
I went to my office got all the things that were required for my travel to Chidambaram. It was not a long journey , it was a 6 hour drive from Chennai. We went via ECR, the road was awesome and drive was great. We had our dinner at sathguru in Pondicherry; it was around 20:30 hrs.
We reached Chidambaram, checked into our room at sadabishekam resort. I felt sleepy so I retired to bed. I woke up early in the morning, went to the temple with my usual attire of formals and seecharanam as most iyengars do. When I went there my imagination ran wild, I felt like I was rangaraja nambi of dasavatharam movie and I relived those first 20 minutes.
I came back and found my colleagues still asleep. Then after all the drama from my side they woke up. It was around 8 am we went to the site. It was a 10 acre site with a 100 year old building .it was a really old building resembling the house that was shown in the movie chandramuki. When I saw this old mansion for the first time, along with my initial thoughts I also could see the potential for the mansion as hotel and resort. With the trend of flats reaching even moffusil towns, staying in a place with so much culture and heritage is truly a boon. Let it be for a conference, a couple's getaway or a family trip, this building threw open its doors to different possibilities.

The building has great heritage value because of the ancient building techniques used in the construction. I dint know if I should freak out completely or stare at it in awe, because the house was a century old. Thankfully for me, I had company so I stepped in, all enthused to start working. I was able to find madras terrace roof, wooden sloped roof, manglore tiles, granite flooring, and wooden staircase, pretty much what I had studied in vernacular architecture.
The thick load bearing walls can be seen as a hindrance to new design, I see it as a potential to build around. If you listen hard and look close, these walls and windows have stories to tell us, from which we can not only learn but also incorporate in our design. The best solution would be to provide modern amenities in this historic shell without destroying its core.

The solid wooden columns, the arched entrances and the decorated cornices are calling to us; they would be our USP's.

Unfortunately for me and fortunately for others, my height (6;2”) is taken for granted and I get to do all teh climbing etc. . I was the unglorified measuring tape for anything that was over 1.8 meters in height.

The fun started when I met the caretaker, "katta pulla” that we immediately translated to English “wood son “with a very funny explanation from my colleague his mom was a "kattai” and hence he was "katta pulla" Finally, deciding to get on with the job, I got on top of the ladder, only to end up with a few scorpions on my head, not to mention the bats screeching away to glory, and scaring me quite a bit, though I hate to admit this.Trust my colleagues to make yours truly do all the dirty work.
But, I’m not all that cowardly; I did kill an annoying bat, though it was not something very pleasant to do. We sat there and with our laptop and drafted the whole thing. We finished documenting in 2 days and came back with relief.

I will never forget this experience; it was funny, scary, and interesting simultaneously. I hope our work and teh effort taken by us reaps the result required and expected.
